In November 2022, The European Correspondent launched its daily newsletter, covering the most important developments in Europe. From Lisbon to Kyiv, from Tbilisi to Reykjavik – its correspondents summarise the essential news in their respective countries and recommend articles to dive deeper into the events and ideas shaping the continent. "We are a truly European media outlet", co-founder Philippe Kramer says.
According to the platform's founders "the established players mainly focus on Brussels and European institutions - not looking at the continent as a whole and across the borders of the Union". The European Correspondent aims to change that. Through their team of correspondents, they cover the whole of Europe and "write for a community of citizens who want to look beyond their national borders".
In the coming months and years, The European Correspondent plans to release "investigations into the issues that move Europe". They want to "research and narrate, contextualise and uncover", and provide readers with "the facts and interconnections they need for their considerations and decisions". In the long run, the platform's founders state, consuming European journalism, in addition to local and national media, should become the norm.
