Mediapoint was established to publish unbiased information about two neighbouring administrative areas (called marz) in Armenia: Syunik and Vayots Ddzor.

Mediapoint uses technology to create new formats in journalism, including podcasts and multimedia storytelling. The newsroom also uses the power of local media as a watchdog on local government's transparency politics and decentralisation.

Mediapoint was founded by nonprofit Goris Press Club. Goris is a city in the province of Syunik with a population of 20,000 and a significant historical and economic role in Armenia.
