Mediacentar Online

Mediacentar Sarajevo is an organisation that supports the development of independent and professional journalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina through informal education, publishing, media research, and organising public events.

From 2014 to 2017, Mediacentar Sarajevo coordinated the implementation of the EU Regional Award for Investigative Journalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina to celebrate and promote outstanding achievements of investigative journalists in EU enlargement countries. The award took place simultaneously in six countries of the Western Balkans (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia) and Turkey. Mediacentar Sarajevo recognised investigative stories written by Bosnian journalists and published in Bosnian media outlets in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Since 2004, Mediacentar Sarajevo's online magazine, called Mediacentar Online, has supported the mission of its founding organisation and regularly publishes news, analysis, and opinions on the developments and trends of the media industry, the challenges journalists face, and the opportunities available to them. In addition, Mediacentar Sarajevo regularly publishes job vacancies in the Western Balkans media industry, serving as a notice board for journalists, researchers, and news producers.

Over the years, Mediacentar Sarajevo has created a vast network of journalists, researchers, and academics from Bosnia and Herzegovina who publish their articles on the portal. It has three full-time employees.

Mediacentar Sarajevo is funded through grants from foreign donors, international organisations, and local authorities. It also receives part of its funds through consulting services, such as training for journalists.
