LGBTI.ba is a news platform created for the LGBTI community and the general public in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The platform was founded in 2013 by the Sarajevo Open Centre (SOC), an association working to improve LGBTI rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Originally called LGBT-prava.ba, it was renamed LGBT.ba a year later. In 2016, the organisation changed its web domain from LGBT.ba to LGBTI.ba to show its inclusivity and commitment to discussing topics involving intersex people, their rights and struggles.
Intending to to raise public awareness and knowledge about the obstacles of the LGBTI community living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the web platform produces multimedia content about the life of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people, as well as LGBTI culture and public policies related to human rights. It provides information on topics that question the heteronormativity of society, and advocates for the freedom of self-determination.
In 2019, before the First Pride Parade in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with SOC and USAID, the LGBTI.ba portal produced a series of video interviews with journalists and artists from the country. Interviewed public figures discussed challenges faced by the LGBTI community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the reasons for holding the Parade, which was widely discussed by numerous media and ruling political parties in the public space during that year.
The media organisation receives funds from international donors.
