Echo Gone Wrong

Echo Gone Wrong is an English-language contemporary art magazine covering the Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian contemporary art scenes.

It was launched in 2013, and its name refers to a song by Bad Manners, the legendary ska band that was listened to by so-called "rollers" (after rock'n'roll) in Soviet Lithuania in the early 80s. The magazine is published by the NGO artnews.lt.

Echo Gone Wrong publishes exhibition reviews, photo reportages from exhibitions and performances, commentaries, daily art news, and an events calendar. The outlet is financed through individual donations from the audience, advertising revenue, and grants.

The same NGO runs a Lithuanian contemporary art online magazine with the same name, artnews.lt, as well as an online bookstore, and the micro-publisher Artbooks.lt.

In addition to these daily activities, between 2009 and 2013 the NGO organised and hosted the workshop series Three Uses of the Knife, for young art critics and curators. This was done in partnership with the Information Center of the National Art Gallery and the Center for Contemporary Art.
