DIVOCHE.MEDIA is a digital magazine supporting women and publishing real-life stories of Ukrainian women, no matter where they are.
The organisation fills in the vacuum of Ukrainian media outlets for women. Compared with global franchises such as Elle Ukraine or Vogue Ukraine, DIVOCHE.MEDIA's primary goal is to bring the stories down to earth, anchor them in the everyday lives of women and offer to its audience the kind of conversations one usually has with intimate friends in the kitchen, in a cosy bar, "smoking", or in a breakout room in the office.
The pieces focus on women's initiative, culture, NGOs, feminist culture, interviews, feminist values, female rights, and female leadership. The most popular section on the website is Divchina govoryt (in English: A girl talks), with articles written by women for women discussing current topics in Ukrainian society.
DIVOCHE.MEDIA supports and trains young female journalists, helping them to become journalism leaders.
Founded in 2013 after the Euromaidan protests and rebranded in 2022, it is funded through advertising, grants, and, most recently, as many media organisations in Ukraine, through private donations.
The media outlet grows with the tendencies and current events. The full-blown war in February 2022 brought in the stories of the everyday routines of women at war or home, making it through each day with family members far away, volunteering, or embarking on new creative projects to support those at the front.
