Headquartered in Sarajevo, Detektor.ba produces high-quality investigative journalism pieces on war crimes, transitional justice, organised crime, the rise of extremism, radicalisation (both religious and political), malicious foreign influence, corruption, and the process of dealing with the past. It also produces a monthly 25-minute-long TV show and online databases—for example, about hate speech or convictions and terrorism cases.
Detektor.ba is the flagship media platform of the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH). BIRN BiH is part of the BIRN network of non-governmental organisations that promote freedom of speech, human rights, and democratic values in Southern and Eastern Europe. BIRN BiH is part of the BIRN Hub, an umbrella organisation that combines local expertise with regional cooperation between the teams in Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, and Romania.
BIRN BiH also provides training for local and international journalists.
Detektor.ba and its journalists won numerous journalistic awards, including the European Press Prize in 2020, the EU Investigative Journalism Award in 2021, and the Fetisov Journalism Award 2021.
