Technology and innovation are fundamentally reshaping business. Breakit is a news organisation for those wanting to follow and participate in this development. Breakit, according to its website, "focuses on the modern-day business world, not yesterday's industry".
After spending almost 20 years together as journalists at the financial newspaper Dagens Industri, Stefan Lundell and Olle Aronsson decided to leave their safe existence there. They noticed that no media outlet covered the revolutionary changes that businesses face in the digital age. For that reason they founded Breakit in March 2015.
From the beginning, one of its principles was transparency, as the founders wanted to be as transparent as possible.
In 2019, Breakit won Sweden's Magazines' Stora Pris, awarded to its founders Olle Aronsson and Stefan Lundell with the following justification: "They left their secure jobs at a big newspaper to create something completely new in a niche that the competition had missed. By breaking new ground without losing their journalistic compass, they show opportunities for digital journalism, both journalistic and business-wise. These are the founders who live what they preach and are transparent about their own ups and downs. That's how they have become sources of inspiration and role models and have created credibility in the industry they themselves have to guard."
