5Harfliler is a website that publishes essays, features, and narrative journalism pieces from over 700 contributors. Within the vast network of women and queer contributors, some prefer to remain anonymous, while some are public.

The newsroom stays true to the "feminist work ethic" during the decision-making process, which is collective and transparent, without a strict hierarchy.

The published content relies on participatory journalism methods, and voluntary contributors may submit pieces as long as they abide by its ethics policy, which vehemently rejects misogyny, transphobia, and racism. Part-time voluntary editors rotate monthly and commission or select around 20 original pieces.

5Harfliler is not a legally registered entity. So far, it has received a small grant to pay humble fees to the editors, contributors, translators, and technical website maintenance. The team aims to sustain its endeavour "to safeguard an oasis in such a misogynous place as the Internet".
